Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the level of a turn-on signal for a light-triggered thyristor high enough, by sequentially emitting rays of light from a plurality of light-emitting members at prescribed delay timing by an electric signal generator, optically adding the rays of light to one another and supplying the added light to the thyristor.
CONSTITUTION: An electric signal generator 1 has delay circuits corresponding to a plurality of light-emitting diodes 2 and supplies electric signals to the diodes 2 at prescribed delay timing. Light signals are emitted from the diodes 2 and concentrated to a single optical fiber unit at an output end through optical fiber members 3 separately provided for the light-emitting diodes 2 to turn on a light-triggered thyristor 4. The pulse widths W of the light-emitting diodes 2 are synthesized with one another so that a larger pulse width n×W is obtained for turning on the thyristor 4. Therefore, the light-triggered thyristor 4 can be turned on with high reliability without shortening the lifetime of each light-emitting diode.
