Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the staring torque of the bearing, by forming dynamic pressure generating grooves in the surface of a shaft-side permanent magnet facing a housing- side permanent magnet member.
CONSTITUTION: The grooves 10 are formed on opposite sides of the section 6 of the shaft-side permanent magnet member 2 facing the housing-side permanent magnet member 4. When a shaft 1 is turned, air on the outside of a bearing gap 3 is introduced into the gap 3 by the pumping function of the grooves 10, so that the shaft- side permanent magnet 2 is supported in a suspended manner. Here, since the shaft- side permanent magnet member 2 and the housing-side permanent magnet member 4 function also as a magnetic bearing, the torque required for starting rotation of the shaft 1 can be reduced and the sliding friction caused during rotation of the shaft 1 can be also minimized.
