Abstract

PURPOSE: To inhibit the generation of an axially thrusting and vibrating motion of the impeller and stabilize an operation of the pump, by vertically providing a fine clearance with respect to the rotary shaft in a space onstructed between a suction port area of the impeller and the casing.
CONSTITUTION: In a space constructed between a suction port 5 of an impeller 3 and a casing 1, a fine clearance 6 is vertically provided with respect to the rotary shaft. In this way, if the impeller 3 is shifted toward a direction of A as shown in the drawing when the pump is started, a gap amount of the fine clearance 6 is greatly narrowed causing a pressure distribution from the suction port 5 to the fine clearance 6 to change its state as in P5 - P6', while a gap amount of fine clearance parts at the opposite side is increased causing the pressure distribution to be P5 - P6, thus the impeller 3 is pushed back toward a direction of B by force corresponding to the area surrounded by a figure of P5 - P6 - P6'. In such way as said in the above, the fine clearance 6 automatically limits an axially shifting motion of the impeller 3 causing the generation of an axially thrusting and vibrating motion of the impeller 3 to be inhibited, thus to stabilize an operation of the pump.
