Abstract

PURPOSE: To equalize load to be subject to two bearings by providing a plurality of thrust bearings to support a rotor of a screw compressor in the same direction and by placing an electromagnetic valve in a hydraulic pressure passage.
CONSTITUTION: A bearing surface 23a of a thrust bearing 23 is installed to be in the same direction to a bearing surface 9a of the other thrust bearing 9, and a hydraulic pressure passage 24 is connected through an electromagnetic valve 25 to the hydraulic pressure source. Hereby, since two pieces of thrust ball bearings 9, 23 can be used as bearings to support thrust load, without overwork by one piece of thrust ball bearing only, life of the bearings can be greatly improved. And, when high pressure after lapse of several seconds at drive stop of a screw compressor is not being generated, an electromagnetic valve 27 is closed just as before starting, balance in the differential pressure is kept by opening the electromagnetic valve 25, which enables to further properly hold with less change in the clearance 22 between a casing 1 and the end of a rotor 2 on the drive side than in that which is referred to the conventional machinery.
