Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the accessibility and reduce the weight of an electromagnetic clutch for compressors by providing a checking mechanism between the end face of the inner race of a ball bearing and the end face of the flange of a sleeve. CONSTITUTION:An armature plate 23 and a rotor 12 are provided on a shaft 3 with a space between them. The rotor 12 is rotatably supported on the housing 2 of a compressor through bearings 10 and a sleeve 5 having a flange 5b. Teeth 14a are formed on the surface of the flange 5b of the sleeve 5. Pins 14b are fixed to the end face 10a of the inner race 10a of a ball bearing 10 fitted opposite to the surface of the flange 5b. The engagement of the pins 14b with the teeth 14b checks the revolution of the inner race 10a, therefore, bearings of a smaller diameter are available and the dimension of the compressor can be reduced.
