Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit the removal of harmful metals in waste water at low temperatures by causing harmful metals to combine with ferrite by oxidizing a ferrous salt under a specific partial pressure of oxygen.
CONSTITUTION: A ferrous salt is added to waste water containing harmful metals, and then the pH of the waste water is regulates to approx. 8W12 by the addition of an alkali and then stirred in an atmosphere of an oxygen partial pressure of 0.1 atm or less to form ferrite precipitate of a large grain size at ordinary temperature. Said stirring operation is preferably performed at 100 r.p.m. or more for example.
