Abstract

PURPOSE: To inhibit the oxidation of Cr3+ in waste to Cr6+ by a method wherein a bivalent metallic oxide is added to the waste at a specified rate and dried, and the waste is dried, when incinerating and treating the waste.
CONSTITUTION: It is necessary for a drying treatment process as the pretreatment of incineration treatment because sludge, etc. dehydrated and concentrated contain approximate 60W80wt% moisture normally. In a drying treating process of waste containing the sludge, etc., a bivalent metallic oxide of Mg, Fe, Ni, Mn, etc. is added to the waste previously only by 1W10 times equivalent as large as the amount of Cr3+ contained in the waste. Thus, the inversion of Cr3+ into Cr6+ in case of incineration is inhibited by transforming Cr3+ into a spinel compound of MCr2O4 (here, M is bivalent metal) and stabilizing it.
