Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a process for rendering hexavalent chromium containing waste water harmless and solidifying the same, which comprises subjecting hexavalent chromium containing waste water adjusted to a pH value of less than 3 to a contact treatment with a carbonaceous material, and burning the thus obtained sludge thereby to obtain a solid of which no hexavalent chromium melts out.
