Abstract

PURPOSE: To mold a high-quality casting with a simplified device by moving the molding flasks which pressure-sandwich a match plate by squeeze plates from the back parts thereby compressing the packed molding sand.
CONSTITUTION: When a molding flask device 20 is in a molding sand compressing station 21, upper, lower molding flaks 11, 12 are mutually approached by the operation of pressure cylinders to pressure-sandwich a match plate 23 from both sides. Next, squeeze plates 24, 25 are moved by way of pressure cylinders and are fitted into the molding flasks 11, 12 by a preset amount. In this state, the molding sand is packed in the molding cavities through openings 30. Next, with the plate 25 held fixed, the plate 24 is advanced to compress the molding sand. In this case, the molding flasks 11, 12 are integrally connected by the molding flask moving device and since the moving device moves integrally with the molding flasks 11, 12 and the plate 23, acting of shearing force upon the plate 23 does not occur. After the compression, the plates 24, 25 are retreated and the device 20 is moved to a rapping station 22 by the rotation of a moving stage 4, where mold registering and rapping are performed.
