Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a battery with a long preservation time which is easily formed and can provide a high-rate discharge, by employing a shifting-charge complex of iodine or the like as the positive active material of a battery whose negative active material is a light metal. CONSTITUTION:A positive active material 1, and a negative active material 2 made of a light metal like lithium are placed in a positive-electrode can 3 which is made of stainless steel. After that, a negative-electrode can 4 is placed on the negative active material 2. At the same time, a gasket 5 is interposed between the can 3 and the can 4 to seal the battery, thus constituting a battery. The positive active material 1 of such a battery is prepared from a shifting-charge complex which is made from a polyamide like 6-nylon, hexamethylenetetramine and iodine. At this point, the proportion by weight of hexamethylenetetramine is preferred to be not less than 0.01. The shifting-charge complex is made, for example, by mixing given amounts of the above mentioned components, and allowing the mixture to react at 60 deg.C for 48hr.
