Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain adequate output current all the time by providing the primary and secondary armature windings, connecting both windings in series when the rotating speed is low and in parallel when the rotating speed exceeds a certain rotating speed by the use of switching elements. CONSTITUTION:An AC generator 1 that is driven by an internal combustion engine is provided with the first generating circuit comprising Y-connected armature windings 2 and a rectifier 3 and the second generating circuit comprising the similar armature windings 4 and rectifier 5. Diodes D13 and D14 and SCRs are connected therebetween. At the time of starting, a gate signal is given to the SCR to turn it on, and the first and second generating circuits are connected in series, thereby generating is performed. When the predetermined rotating speed is exceeded, the SCR is turned off to connect both generating circuits in parallel, and the generating is performed. Therefore, the rise up during the low speed operation is quick, the large output power can be obtained at the high speed operation, thereby adequate charging current can be obtained.
