Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a ferritic stainless steel having good press moldability at lower cost than the conventional ones, having a composition containing specific components, e.g., C, Si, Mn, Cr, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A ferritic stainless steel, containing 0.04W0.12wt% C, 1% or less Si, 1% or less Mn, 16W18wt% Cr, 0.02W0.15% Ti, 0.03wt% or less N, 0.2W 1wt% Cu, and Fe and inevitable impurities, with a Ti/(C+N) ratio of 0.7W2, is cheaper than the steels SUS301 and SUS304 and free of the roughening of surface after being processed by press, as well as having excellent cracking resistance and better press moldability than the 17-Cr steel.
