Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare titled crosslinked elastomer, excellent in heat resistance, oil resistance and permanent strain characteristics, by grafting a silane with a specified block copolymer, followed by crosslinking in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A modified block copolymer obtained by grafting 0.0001W0.1mol of a silane of formula II (wherein R is a monovalent olefinic unsaturated group, composed of C, H and arbitrarily of O, bonded to Si through Si-C bond; Y is a hydrolyzable organic group), with every 100g of a compound of formula I (wherein A is a polymer block composed of a vinyl substituted aromatic compound; B is a polymer block composed of a conjugated diolefin; n is 2W10; X is a polyfunctional compound, to which m polymer chains can be bonded; m is 3W7), at 120W200°C, in the presence of a radical scavenger, is crosslinked in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst, by exposure to water.
