Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a modified organic polymer having excellent adhesivity to an epoxy resin layer, preventing the lowering of electrical characteristics, by contacting a silyl-modified organic polymer with a specific compound and water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A silyl-modified organic polymer obtained by the thermal reaction of (i) an organic polymer (e.g. polyethylene) in the presence of (ii) a silane of formula RR'SiY2 (R is olefinic univalent hydrocarbon group, etc.; Y is hydrolyzable organic group; R' is group R or Y) e.g. vinyl trimethoxysilane, and (iii) a radical generator (e.g. benzoyl peroxide), is modified by contacting with (B) a compound reactive with the polymer (A) and having epoxy group and/or amino group, and a group condensable with the group Y (e.g. γ-glycidopropyltrimthoxysilane) and water in the presence of (C) a silanol condensation catalyst (e.g. dibutyltin dilaurate).
