Abstract

PURPOSE: A thermoplastic elastomer for practical use having improved processability, oil and heat resistance, and permanent set, prepared by reacting a block copolymer of a conjugated diene and styrene with a specific silane.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 Parts by wt. of a styrene-conjugated diene block copolymer of formula I, II, III or IV: (A is polymer block consisting mainly of conjugated diene; B is polymer block consisting mainly of styrene; the conjugated diene content in the polymer is 40W85wt.%; n is ≥2; m is an integer ≥1) is reacted with (B) 0.1W10 parts by wt. of a silane of formula V: (R is alkyl, allkyl, or vinyl group; X is hydrolyzable organic group; a is 2 or 3) to give an elastomer crosslinkable, if necessary in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst, and brought into contact with water.
