Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the smoke protecting effect from being lowered by providing a smoke inlet port in a smoke removing apparatus according to an electric dust collecting system so as to flow the polluted air stream in a condition avoiding said smoke discharge port to prevent a corona discharge electrode discharging only to one direction in a cylindrical flow passage from being polluted.
CONSTITUTION: Corona discharge is generated between a discharge electrode 4 and an opposed electrode 1 to rush said corona discharge to a direction of a corona ion electrode 1 and the corona wind generated from a protruded end 12 therewith is flowed to a direction except the vicinity of a side surface of the discharge electrode 4. The air containing smoke particles sent into from an open end 5 of a flow passage 2 is moved to the vicinity of the surface of the opposed electrode 1 to a direction as shown by an arrow 18 and receives the radiation of corona shower. The smoke particles are charged in a place extremely near to the electrode 1 and receives only one-sided corona wind from the protruded end and, because there is no air stream directing the protruded end 12 from the side of polluted air against the corona wind, said smoke particles are caught by the electrode 1 and not contained in the air in the vicinity of a side surface of the electrode 4. Therefore, the electrode is not polluted and, because charged smoke particles do not shield a discharge electric field, the smoke removing effect is high.
