Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the idling revolution speed of an engine to an optimal level in the warming-up of the engine independently of the temperature of the air, by determining an idling rotational frequency command from standard revolution speed levels determined depending on the temperature of the air and the state of warming- up at the time of starting of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: In an internal combustion engine with electronically controlled fuel injection, a quantity of fuel based on a sucked air quantity signal generated by an air flow sensor 27 is injected through an injection valve 28 and the quantity of sucked air is regulated a by throttle valve 12 or a control valve 14 in an intake by- pass 13 to control the revolution speed of the engine. Standard revolution speed levels determined depending on states of warming-up are read from a storage unit on the basis of the states of warming-up of the engine at and after its starting. A revolution speed command for the state of warming-up after the starting is determined from the standard revolution speed levels. The engine is controlled so that its revolution speed with the throttle valve 12 in an idling position is equalized to the revolution speed command.
