Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically attain the function of a decompression device, which reduces the pressure of a combustion chamber to facilitate the starting of the engine, in response to the stoppage of the engine and to automatically operate the decompression device in response to the trouble of an oil pump or the like as well to stop the engine.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine is started by cranking, an oil pump 15 is rotated in connection with the starting of the engine to supply lubricating oil under pressure to an oil pressure chamber 13 to move a decompression shaft 10 to the left against a spring 12. oppose the small-diameter part 10b of the shaft 10 to an engagement member 11 and terminate the engagement of a rocker arm 9 caused by the shaft 10 through the engagement member 11. As a result, the rocker arm 9 is swung by a rocking shaft 8 synchronized with the operation of the engine open and close an exhaust valve 5 at prescribed timing. When the engine is stopped after that, oil pressure in the oil pressure chamber 13 disappears because of the stoppage of the oil pump 15. At that time, the decompression shaft 10 is moved to the right by the spring 12 and the combustion chamber 3 is put in a decompressed state through the exhaust valve 5.
