Abstract

PURPOSE: To position accurately a data head in fast motion by further writing track address information in a servo sector and by combining the information with servo information to know the current position of the data head.
CONSTITUTION: A position model signal is supplied to input terminal 10, and a speed model signal to input terminal 11. Position information, read by data head 15, includes discrete servo information on sector time intervals and is sampled at sector intervals before being inputted to position signal circuit 16. Circuit 16 separates it into address information SA and servo information SE and while address information SA is supplied to adder 18 direct, servo information SE is supplied via sample holding circuit 17 to obtain the accurate current position of the data head. So that the difference between the obtained output and the position model curve output of adder 12 will be zero, linear motor actuator (LMA)22 is driven for positioning the head.
