Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable electrically monitoring of a light emitting output waveform without impairing stable action of mean light emitting output of a laser diode by providing a resistance element connected to a photodiode in series in such a manner that a DC bias path of an amplifier is formed. CONSTITUTION:Supplied with a bias current from a transistor 3, a laser diode emits light at a certain action level according to a modulation signal from an input terminal 8. The light emitting output of the laser diode 1 is transmitted to a photodiode 2 by way of a light wave guide 9, which provides a photodetecting current according to the light emitting output of the laser diode 1 to the base of a transistor 10. In this case, the base of the transistor 10 is grounded in an AC manner with a condenser 6 so that only DC component is inputted thereto as control signal. Connected in series to a photodiode 1, a resistance element 12 is provided to detect the photodetecting current whereby the light emitting output waveform is obtained from a monitor terminal 14 without impairing the stability of the light emitting output of the laser diode 1.
