Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve response for pulse modulation by a method wherein a bias current which energizes a semiconductor laser to a light emitting thershold level is fed to it and a driving current is overlaid on it in accordance with a pulse modulation signal. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser 1 is connected with a current source circuit 3 through a threshold current driving circuit 2, and a bias current is supplied. And the circuit 3 is connected with the laser 1 through a current control circuit 4, a pulse modulation driving circuit 5 and a diode 6, and a driving current is supplied to the laser 1 according to a pulse modulation signal which is put into the circuit 5. On the other hand in a light path of the laser 1 a photodetector 7 is provided, and by its output being put into a detector circuit 8 a peak value of the output light of the laser is detected. And an output of a circuit 8 is added on a comparator circuit 9 and by comparing it with a signal from a comparing signal output circuit 10, the circuit 4 is controlled according to a result compared, and a quantity of the driving current fed to the laser 1 is adjusted.
