Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve strength and reliability by providing a metal corrosion preventing layer which is higher in deformation resistance than silver halide and does not react with silver halide on the outside circumference of a wire-shaped body for transmisson of infrared rays of which the core and clad comprise silver halide, and providing a metal protecting layer which is large in deformation resistance and permits cold drawing on the outside circumference thereof. CONSTITUTION:For example, a pipe of silver chloride of 10.05mm. inside diameter and 15mm. outside diameter that becomes clad is put on a rod of silver bromide of 10mm. diameter and 100mm. length that becomes core, and a pipe of silver of 15.05mm. inside diameter and 17mm. outside diameter that becomes a corrosion preventing layer is put thereon. Further, an oxygen-free copper pipe of 17.1mm. inside diameter and 30mm. outside diameter to become a protecting layer is put on. Next, this composite body is worked to the wire-shaped body for transmission of infrared rays of 0.5mm. outside diameter through swaging, drawing and wire drawing processes. Hence, it is high in mechanical strength, has heat resistance and durability, is high in reliability and permits transmission of infrared rays of 2-10mum with high efficiency.
