Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a processing degree necessary for metallic bond by diffusion annealing without the need for annealing on the way by using a fixed full angle of die when drawing clad strand with covering material of a higher deforming resistance than that of core material.
CONSTITUTION: When obtaining a metallic bond between core material and covering material by applying one or more repeated cycle of cold drawing and diffusion annealing on a clad strand consisting of a metal core and a covering metal of a higher deforming resistance than that of the core metal, or preferably a clad strand consisting of an Al or Al alloy core and a copper or copper alloy covering, the cold drawing of the strand is made by using a die of ful angle 2α of 20 to 45° until the metallic bond is obtained. This method enables one to draw the strand without failure and also to obtain sufficient metallic bond between them by annealing when obtaining soft core type clad wires.
