Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the loss and frequency characteristic up to the intermediate point at the end of incidence, by separating and detecting by the time area at the end of incidence concerning the reflected light in the fiber of a laser light beam modulated by a burst signal which has intermittently generated a sine wave of single frequency. CONSTITUTION:A laser light beam of the laser equipped with a modulater is modulated by a burst signal of the burst signal generator 1, and it performs incidence to the optical fiber 4 through the reflector 3. In this case, the modulated siganl has a strong component to DC (f) and specific frequency f0. Accordingly, loss of the fiber 4 and base band characteristic of f0 of the fiber 4 can be measured from DC component and f0 component, respectively, by separating DC component and f0 component by the receiver 6. In addition, a pulse reflected by the point of the distance l among a lot of reflected pulses can be caught at the end of incidence by separating and measuring the reflected pulse by the time area. Accordingly, the transmission characteristic up to the intermediate point of the transmission line can be grasped at the end of incidence.
