Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture the beam blank with very stable quality, by periodically pressing the cast billet, which has finished the secondary cooling and is before the cutting machine, from two sides by the pressing head possessing the cavity of specified shape fittable to the billet's side plane, so as to tune with the movement of the cast billet. CONSTITUTION:At a position 4 in front of the cutting machine 3 included in the continuous casting line, the cast billet 8, which has finished the cooling, is fed into the housing 5 holding the pressing head 9. This pressing heads 9, 9, press the cast billet 8 from its two sides so as to perform the reduction in the breadth direction.
