Abstract

Metallic anodes 11 are continuously manufactured from molten metal (impure copper) by continuously casting the molten metal in an inclined moulding cavity 13 formed by two movable belts 14, 15 and by two movable side dams 20 so as to produce a metallic strip 4. The hot strip is cut at a machine 9 when it has left the moulding cavity 13, and is still hot, with at least one plasma torch 10 along a profile such that anodes with a low waste coefficient are obtained. <IMAGE>
