Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to use a logic element not only as a memory element, etc., but also as a limiter for waveform shaping and magnetic flux quanta, by performing logic operation with magnetic quantum pulses propagating through a Josephson transmission line obtained by extending Josephson junction linearly. CONSTITUTION:Operating loop 1, made of a superconductive material providing superconduction at cryogenic temperature, is provided with drive line 2 at one its part and constituted by interposing in loop 1 barriers 6 and 8 of input lines 3 and output line 4 formed by linearly extending the Josephson junction having superconductors 5 and 5, and 7 and 7 insulated mutually by barriers 6 and 8 made of an extremely thin oxidized film, etc., at connection points between a required number of input lines 3 and output line 4. The operation of the logic element of the constitution like this is performed with magnetic quanta on lines 3 in principle, but the upper bound of the number of traps of magnetic flux quanta in loop 1 can be controlled by external magnetic flux and a driving current from line 2.
