PURPOSE:To omit a power transformer and to reduce the dielectric strength on the low-potential side of a high-tension winding by a method wherein a variable reactor on the low-tension winding of the transformer of the first stage and the low-tension winding are connected in series to a power source. CONSTITUTION:The variable reactor 4 which has been connected to the low-tension side of the testing transformer 2 of the first stage and the low-tension wiring of the transformer 2 are connected in series to the power source 7, and a high-tension winding of the transformer 2, a high-tension winding of a testing transformer 3 and an electrostatic capacity 6 for testing are connected in series. As a result, a voltage which is 50% of the generated voltage and a voltage which is lost on the circuit are overlapped in the transformer 2. The Q of all the circuits is above 10 at the lowest, all voltage is shown by the total of vector quantity of the generated voltage and the loss voltage, and the lost voltage can be disregarded. Consequently, the source voltage is omitted and the dielectric strength on the low-potential side of the high- tension winding of the testing transformer can be reduced.
