Abstract
1,044,173. Pulse generators. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. July 2, 1963, No. 26271/63. Heading H3P. [Also in Division G1] A multiple transformer is tested by means of a pulse generator which produces a pulse which is balanced with respect to earth. In Fig. 3 the surge capacitances 8 are charged from transformer 6 through rectifiers 7 and discharge through an arc gap 9 into discharging resistances 10, damping resistances 11, and two equal loading capacitances 12 the junction of which is earthed. The junction of resistances 10 may also be earthed, as shown, and the output is connected to two high-voltage windings 14 of a three-phase transformer under test. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), four stages of an eight-stage surge generator are short-circuited by connections 29 and the other four stages, comprising capacitors 19 charged in parallel from D.C. source at terminals 20 and discharged in series, produce a surge output at terminals 27 which is balanced with respect to earth by an earth connection at point 26. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), six stages of a nine-stage generator are used.
