Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photographic material capable of forming a superior and uniform dot image processed with a stable developer, by adding a tetrazolium compound to a silver halide emulsion layer and its upper layer in a specified proportion. CONSTITUTION:A compound represented by the formula (R1, R2, R3 are H, mercapto, nitro, amino, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or a heterocyclic group; X is an atom or an atomic group forming an anionic ion; and n is 1 or 2), for example a compound obtained from 2,3,5-triphenyl-2H-tetrazolium or its derivative, and an alkylarylsulfonic anion is added to silver halide emulsion layer (a), and nonphotosensitive layer (b) as the upper layer of layer (a) in contact with layer (a) and located farther than layer (a) from a supprt, and an amount added to layer (b) is kept 1.2-10 times as much as that added to layer (a) in proportion to a binder of each layer.
