Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled alloy steel having a predetermined density and superior wear resistance in a hot oxidizing atmosphere by adding a necessary amount of C powder to alloy powder having a specified composition contg. C, Ni, etc. followed by forming and sintering.
CONSTITUTION: The titled alloy steel is a sintered body of 6.4W7.6 density obtd. by adding 0.5W2.5wt% C powder to alloy powder cinsisting of, by weight, 0.001W 0.6% C, ≤5% Ni, 0.1W8% Mo or 0.2W8% Mo+W (>0.1% Mo), 0.8W6.5% Cu, 0.3W4% Co and the balance Fe followed by forming and sintering. The sintered body may be filled with 0.5W7wt% Pb by infiltration and compressed at a high temp. to adjust the density to 6.4W7.7. The sintered body is then hardened and tempered. This sintered alloy steel has superior high temp. wear resistance and lubricity.
