Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture sintered machine parts with high strength and high wear resistance by sintering a mixed green compact of alloy steel powder having a prescribed composition and graphite powder by heating in a reducing atmosphere, oilhardening the sintered body at once, tempering it in a nonoxidizing atmosphere after degreasing, and carrying out oil hardening again.
CONSTITUTION: Alloy steel powder contg., by wt., 0.4W8.0% in total of one or more among 0.10W2.3% Mn, 0.10W5.5% Cr, 0.10W7.0% Mo, 0.01W3.5% V, 0.10W8.0% W and 0.01W3.0% Nb, and a small amount each of Si, Al, Ti, C and O is prepared. This powder is mixed with ≤0.40% graphite powder and compacted. The green compact is sintered by heating and holding at 1,100W1,200°C in a reducing atmosphere with 0.8W1.2 carbon potential. The hot sintered body immediately after the sintering is oil-hardened, degreased, and heated to 500°CW a temp. 20°C below the transformation temp. in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. it is further heated and held at 740W900°C to carry out oil hardening. Thus, the titled ironbase sintered machine parts are manufactured.
