Abstract
PURPOSE:To keep suitable heating state without decreasing conveying speed, by controlling respectively the heating means at the upper stream and at the downstream in accordance with the intermediate temp. of the material to be heated which is detected between plural heating means after the start of heating of traveling material to be heated. CONSTITUTION:Before the arrival of the top of an electric resistance welded pipe 10 at the inlet side of a continuous annealing apparatus is detected 38, the set value for applied voltage calculated by control unit 46 for heating is set as an initial value for respective electric power sources 41-44 for induction heating coils 11-14. When the top of the pipe 10 is detected 38, the coils are lowered in order beginning with the coil 11 in accordance with the passage of the pipe 10 under the coils 11- 14.
