Abstract

PURPOSE: To repair surface flaw of the metal slab by heating flaw portion selectively stronger in relation to other portion by way of high frequency induction heating controllig the power and frequency in accordance with the depth of the surface flaw.
CONSTITUTION: The scarfer 1 is arranged between bloom pressing mill and hot saw facing to the moving range of the slabs. The slab S after passing the induction coil 11 constituting the scarfer 1, and repaired at the surface, and then transferred to the hot saw to the direction of arrow mark. The coil 11 is formed to a rectangualr link form a little larger than the section of the slab, and a certain output of high frequency current is flown from the power source device 12. A temperature sensor 13 is arranged to the down stream side of the coil 11, and measure the surface temperature of the slab S, and feed back the data to the power source device 12 and correct and control the power and frequency to be fed to the coil 11.
