Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve easy steering with a simple steering mechanism by placing one spool of a steering valve under the control of a single control lever to provide the intermittent operations of a left or right clutch and a braking action for each of left and right brake.
CONSTITUTION: To move a vehicle in the counterclockwise direction, a control lever 6 is handled to move a spool of a steering valve 5 left to communicate ports 51, 52 with each other. An oil pressure from a pump 2 is allowed to be transmitted via a duct 12 to a left clutch 10 and the bottom space inside a left brake cylinder 13a so that the left clutch 10 is disengaged. On the other hand, left and right brakes 13, 15 are released because an oil pressure from a transmission pump 3 is carried into a space on the rod side inside each of left and right brake cylinder 13a, 15a. A piston 13b yields to a combination of the oil pressure from the pump 2 and a force of a compression spring 13c to move left so that the left brake 13 acts to brake the vehicle to turn it counterclockwise. A clockwise turning of the vehicle can be attained by handling the lever 6 in the opposite direction.
