Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the temperature of the coldest point and enhance color renderability by providing an electrode-sealing portion at one end of a luminous tube contg. one or both of zinc and cadmium and providing two main electrodes in parallel in the sealing portion. CONSTITUTION:In the light transmissible outer tube 1, the luminous tube 6 contg. one or both of zinc and cadmium is provided, and the electrode-sealing portion 7 pressed on its one end is provided in sealed manner with the parallel main electrodes 10 with the emitter 9 projecting into the luminous tube 6 and then connected with the cap 2 by the lead wire 8. Thus, because the sealing portion 7 is provided only at one end of the luminous tube 6 and also because two main electrodes 10 becoming high temperatures upon discharge are provided in combination, the temperature of the coldest point can be raised by raising the temperature of the sealing portion 7 by the heat of the emitter 9 passing through the lead wire 8.
