Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively perform thick plate welding in less distortion, by performing laser beam welding after inserting the raw metal for welding metal forming between the grooves of butt welding. CONSTITUTION:Between grooves of thick plate to be butt welded, the welding metal forming raw metal such as iron powder and cut wire or the like can be inserted. By radiating laser beam to it to produce the molten metal, the base metal is molten with the heat energy of laser beam and holding heat of molten metal and the welding is progressed. In this case, the loading amount of raw metal is suited to the laser beam output, then nonwelded part is not produced. Further, by making smaller the laser beam diameter, the amount of molten metal is less and the deformation by welding is less. Or, the chemical component of raw metal is adjusted to avoid crack and to increase the strength, allowing to use low output laser oscillator.
