A coating layer 15 of a material of high thermal resistance is provided on the inside surface of the cooling block 5, which comes into contact with a liquid coolant. Even if the temperature of the liquid coolant slightly fluctuates due to foaming or the like, the coating layer 15 prevents the temperature fluctuation from being directly transmitted to the cooling block 5. As a result, the fluctuation in the oscillation frequency of a laser element 8 is greatly reduced because the element is cooled by the cooling block through a heat sink 6.
