Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of noises and broaden the range of flow rate applied by a method wherein the flow rate at the starting point of hydromechanical instability of blade wheels at the 2nd level and after is set apart from that of the preceding stage by a certain quantity.
CONSTITUTION: The flow rate at the starting point of hydromechanical instability of a blade wheel 2 at the 2nd level is set apart from that of the blade wheel 1 at the 1st level by 10% or more. For instance, as the blade wheel 1 at the 1st level, the type of a blade which has a large curvature and a large lift coefficient is used, while, as the blade wheel 2 at the 2nd level, such a type of a blade that has a small curvature and a small lift coefficiency is used, and thus the starting point of instability of the blade wheel at the 1st level is transferred to the point of lower flow rate than that of the blade wheel at the 2nd level. In this way, the vibration stress of the blade wheel at the 2nd level lowers by about 60%, while the reliability in strength of the blade wheel is rasied to a great extent, the level of noise is lowered, and accordingly, the expansion of the range of the flow rate applied becomes possible.
