Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled material suitable as a raw material of polyurethene, by the addition reaction of a compound having active hydrogen with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a tetraalkyl ammonium hydroxide as a catalyst, thereby enabling the easy removal of the catalyst from the product.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be prepared by the addition reaction of (A) a compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms (pref. a polyhydroxy compound) with (B) an alkylene oxide (pref. propylene oxide and/or ethylene oxide) in the presence of (C) a tetraalkyl ammonium hydroxide (pref. all of the four alkyl groups are ≤4C, and the decomposition temperatur is 90W130°C). The amount of the component (C) is pref. 0.05W0.5wt% based on the produced polyoxyalkylene polyol, and the component (C) is pref. decomposed by heating after the reaction.
