Abstract

1324277 Biuret DOW CHEMICAL CO 8 Oct 1970 [9 Oct 1969] 47934/70 Heading C2C Biuret is prepared by heating a mixture of urea and glycol diether at a temperature of from 110‹ to 210‹ C., the weight ratio of urea : ether being between 90 : 10 and 10 : 90, said glycol diether being of the formula wherein R is ethylene or propylene, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> are (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl radicals, and n is an integer from 1 to 6, the ether having a boiling point of not less than 110‹ C. The reaction may be carried out in two stages each at a different reaction temperature.
