Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently dehydrate wet activated carbon by charging granular wet activated carbon into a cylindrical container having a net of fine meshes at the bottom, allowing the carbon to stand, taking out an upper part of the carbon up to ≤1/2 from the surface, and intermittently repeating these processes.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of activated carbon or the regeneration of used activated carbon, wet activated carbon is dehydrated before feeding to a drying process. A dehydrating method is as follows: granular wet activated carbon is charged into cylindrical container having a net of fine meshes at the bottom and allowed to stand for ≥30min. preferably ≥1hr to drop most of water to be removed, and an upper part of the carbon up to ≤1/2, preferably about 1/3 from the surface is taken out to obtain considerably dehydrated wet activated carbon. The above-mentioned processes are then repeated intermittently to carry out efficient dehydration.
