Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the superhard alloy case of high density for portable watches by mixing the specific weight ratio of plastic powder as a molding accelerator into superhard alloy powder and molding the mixture, then heating the molding to let the plastic melt and evaporate thence sintering the same.
CONSTITUTION: Plastic powder is added as a green compact molding accelerator at 1W10wt% to the superhard alloy powder containing a binder at 0W40% based on weight. This is heated and compaction-molded in the metal dies having the shape close to that of the finished product with heating at ordinary temperatureW400°C. Thence, it is heated to 200W600°C to let the plastic melt and evaporate, after which this green compact molding is heated to the sintering temperature of the superhard alloy. This method causes the plastic powder to interpose finely among the superhard alloy powder, thereby binding and molding the superhard alloy more firmly. In addition, this permits are increase in the binder amount and readily yields the case which is fine and has the sharp and beautiful polished surface specific to superhard alloy.
