Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled pellets comparable to sintered ore in properties and performance, by adding combustible fine grains to crushed iron ore together with an adequate amount of a binder and water and forming raw pellets oof a relatively large diameter after which the pellets are fired and crushed.
CONSTITUTION: Crushed iron ore is blended with a predetermined amount of combustible fine grains based on ≤5mm grains and igniting and burning at ≤400°C. The blend is kneaded with an adequate amount of a binder and water and pelletized to form raw pellets of a relatively large diameter based on 25W50mm pellets. The raw pellets are prefired at ≤ about 800°C to allow the combustible fine grains to disappear by burning, and they are fired at a higher temp. The resulting porous large pellets are then crushed to manufacture crushed pellets based on 5W15mm pellets.
