Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the structure and improve the efficiency of needle operating device of a Pelton wheel by constituting the device so that a needle is operated by a motion of an oil pressure cylinder through a link mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: A motion of an oil pressure cylinder 37 is conveyed to the first lever 31 through a lever 36, a link 35, the second lever 34, and a shaft 30 to turn the lever 31 around the shaft 30 and shift a needle 28 in axial direction to change an opening of a nozzle 25. Therefore, as a needle system is not provided in said operating system, conditions such as a decline in efficiency of a water turbine, generation of vibrations, or damage by foreign matters are not occured, and no wide space for disassembling or installing nor complicated shape of a reinforced concrete wall are needed, and furthermore, as a driving mechanisms are collected at the top part of a runner housing, pipes or links can be shortened. Also, as an oil pressure device is not needed to be provided in a narrow space, the device can be cheaper and there is no fear for contaminating water with oil.
