Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure the propagation velocity of the oscillation wave on the ground, etc., by setting on the ground, etc. a vibrator and two oscillation detectors keeping a known distance between them, and by driving the vibrator in such a manner as to overlap a high-frequency wave onto a low-frequency wave.
CONSTITUTION: The vibrator 1 is set on the ground G and two oscillation detectors 2 and 3 are also set on the ground in such a position that they are kept away from the vibrator 1 by an appropriate distance and that the oscillation detectors are kept away from each other by a distance S which is the maximum wave length value or less of an anticipated propagating wave. The vibrator 1 is driven in such a manner as to overlap the wave of higher frequency fb onto the wave of lower frequency fa selected in conjuction with the maximum wave length of the propagating wave to be measured, and by detecting the propagating wave by the oscillation detectors 2 and 3, the cross correlation is sought through the cross correlation calculation by a calculator and a counter. And therefore, it is possible to obtain the propagation velocity of the oscillation in a stratum while keeping a fixed distance between the two oscillation detectors without requiring much time and manpower.
