Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify detecting device and widen the range of its utility, by using a TV camera of variable scanning direction to scan a circuit pattern in an optional direction, processing the output signal of the camera through a digital circuit and an abnormality extraction circuit and displaying an abnormal section on an output unit.
CONSTITUTION: A circuit pattern is scanned in a horizontal direction, for example, by a random access type TV camera 10 according to a scanning direction signal A or B from a scanning direction control circuit 14. The output signal of the TV camera is changed into a binary signal of 1's and 0's by a binary coding circuit 12. The binary signal is applied to an abnormality extraction circuit 12 so that the numbers of consecutive 1's and 0's of the signal are separately counted and compared with the minimum values of prescribed width and spacing for the pattern. The results of the comparison are applied to a computer 15, which performs synthetic analysis about the abnormality of the circuit pattern to indicate its abnormal section. The same inspection is effected by scanning in a vertical direction, for example. This results in simplifying detection device and making it flexible for wider utility to cope with the change in the type of machines.
