Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the amorphism forming capacity, thermal stability and permeability of an Fe-B-C amorphous alloy by converting the alloy into an Fe-Mo- B-C amorphous alloy contg. a little Mo.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy having a composition represented by formula I [where a+b+c+d=1, b=0.005W0.04 (atomic no. ratio). c=0.08W0.17 and d=0.02W 0.08] is melted by high frequency melting in an Ar atmosphere and solidified by very rapid cooling to obtain an amorphous alloy. This alloy is superior to an Fe-B- C alloy in permeability and considerably superior to the alloy in amorphism forming capacity and thermal stability. In addition, this alloy has a small iron loss as a general property of an amorphous alloy, so it is suitable for use as a power transformer iron core material.
