CONSTITUTION:In blast furnace operation, a gas sampler is provided direct above the surface of charge and temperature in the direction of the furnace radius and gas distribution of Co, Co2, H2 and N2 etc. are measured. From these values and the operation condition, the pattern of the softened and molten zone and the position thereof are determined quantitatively at the level of the isothermal line distribution of 1,400 deg.C of the charge.
