Abstract
PURPOSE:To plan for blast furnace operation to be stabilized and more efficient by controlling the pattern of softened and molten zone through measuring and grasping the isothermal distribution of the softened and molten zone within a predetermined temperature range in a blast furnace. CONSTITUTION:In blast furnace operation, a gas sampler is provided direct above the surface of charge and temperature in the direction of the furnace radius and gas distribution of Co, Co2, H2 and N2 etc. are measured. From these values and the operation condition, the pattern of the softened and molten zone and the position thereof are determined quantitatively at the level of the isothermal line distribution of 1,400 deg.C of the charge. Let the height of 1,400 deg.C position from the tuyere level at the center of furnace be Am, the minimum height of isothermal line from the tuyere level be Bm and the radius of furnace bottom be Rh. When the temperature of cokes entering tuyere edge is 75% of the theoretical combustion temperature thereof, a calculated theoretical temperature is Tad.
