PURPOSE:To eliminate troubles such as slips and hanging in titled operation by measuring the gaseous distributions and the gaseous temp. distributions on the charging materials at the top of a blast furnace, and controlling the distribution state of the charging materials in such a way that these satisfy specific relational expressions. CONSTITUTION:In blast furnace operation of all coke, gaseous compsns. and gaseous temps. are respectively measured in the positions where the radii between the furnace center and the furnace wall are divided by (n) with respect to the gaseous distributions and gaseous temp. distributions on the charging materials in the blast furnace. The gaseous distribution index N expressed by{CO/ (CO+CO2)}X18-3 and gaseous temp. value are controlled by adjusting the thickness of the coke layer without changing the thickness of the ore layer in such a way that these satisfy the following relations. Here, said index N is so controlled as to satisfy the equationsI, II and the gaseous temp. distribution at the furnace top as to satisfy the equations III, IV, V.
